AT12443After nine weeks of competition, and more than 1.5 million votes cast on Wednesday night, CTV congratulates DENYS Drozdyuk on becoming Canada’s Favourite Dancer during the third season finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA. Host Leah Miller announced live that DENYS Drozdyuk, , 25, a ballroom dancerfrom Toronto, ON has become Canada’s Favourite Dancer, also claiming the grand prize of $100,000 as well as the keys to a brand new 2011 Mazda2 Sport.

AMANDA Cleghorn, 19, a contemporary dancer from Mississauga, ON, was declared the runner-up, also receiving the keys to their very own 2011 Mazda2 Sport. Before the winner and runner-up were announced, JEFF Mortensen, 22, a contemporary dancer from Edmonton, AB and JANICK Arseneau, 20, a contemporary dancer from Bathurst, NB, along with their fellow Top 17 Finalists, all took to the stage during the two-hour live extravaganza which featured almost 20 performances – including a special routine choreographed by Emmy Award-winner Mia Michaels for the Top 4.

After his jaw-dropping audition in Montreal, DENYS, who came to the show after graduating from the world renowned The Julliard School in New York City, quickly became a stand out in the competition. Perfecting everything from house to salsa to contemporary, this ballroom master was a true chameleon on the stage. Best known for his commitment, passion and strength, DENYS has been praised by the judges and critics for his dedication to his craft and showmanship. During the Top 10 performance show, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA guest judge and National Ballet of Canada Artistic Director Karen Kain told DENYS “You have a very special talent,” also alluding to his likeness to the ballet great Rudolph Nureyev.

whl8100(1)With the final votes now cast for Canada’s Favourite Dancer, CTV revealed details today about Sunday’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA season finale, a two-hour dance spectacular featuring more than 20 performances. Airing Sunday, October 24 at 9 p.m. ET (7 p.m. AT/MT) on CTV (go to ctv.ca to confirm local listings). The jam-packed finale will feature three new group numbers: the Top 21 will reunite for a theatre routine by guest judge Sergio Trujillo, the Top 10 will perform a jazz routine by Melissa Williams, and the Top 4 will take to the stage for a special routine choreographed by Emmy Award-winner Mia Michaels.

With AMANDA, DENYS, JANICK and JEFF in the running to become Canada?s Favourite Dance, viewers can learn more about the Top 4 during ETALK PRESENTS: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA, THE FINAL 4 on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. ET on CTV. An encore broadcast of the Top 4 performance show airs on MuchMusic Saturday, Oct. 23 beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET (visit muchmusic.com to confirm local broadcast times).

The finale will also feature memorable routines seen throughout the season including numbers from choreographers Stacey Tookey, Sean Cheesman, Mandy Moore, Sabrina Matthews, Gustavo Vargas, Sho-Tyme, Maria Torres, Francis Lafreni?re and Natalli Reznik and judges Blake McGrath and Luther Brown. Throughout the two-hour finale, viewers will also look back at the journey the Top 4 have been on this season with video recaps.

The Top 4’s journey started almost a year ago during the audition tour, where AMANDA was discovered in Toronto, both DENYS and JANICK in Montreal, and JEFF in Vancouver. Now one member of the Top 4 will be crowned Canada’s Favourite Dancer.     “I’m at Monday’s taping of So You Think You Can Dance Canada (CTV, 8 p.m.), always an educational adventure. Again, I’ve brought my neighbour’s boy Lucas, aged 10 and a stalwart fan of the show. Since he first became enraptured, aged 8, his knowledge has surged. First he just liked the movement, especially the hip-hop performers. He hoped that Nico Archambault would win the first season’s title. Everybody did, and Nico won.” Read more.

dance cast 745 finalAs announced during last night’s results episode, CTV has ordered a fourth season of the hit series SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA. The five-city audition locations, where Canadian dancers will again have the chance to step into the spotlight and prove they have what it takes to become Canada’s Favourite Dancer were announced today. Try-outs are set to begin Saturday, November 6 in Saint John, NB. Other audition cities include Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton and Vancouver. SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA is based on 19 Entertainment and dick clark productions, inc. popular international format SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, presented from a uniquely Canadian perspective.

This announcement comes as Season 3 is once again captivating viewers across the country, with an average audience of 1.11 million viewers per episode. After moving to new timeslots this week, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA performance shows will continue to air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET, with results shows airing Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET following BIG BANG THEORY on CTV (go to ctv.ca to confirm local listings).
