It’s Eva versus Craig and the last one standing will be Canada’s next Canadian Idol, it was revealed tonight on CTV. With the elimination of Saskatchewan’s Tyler Lewis, 20, tonight, the stage is now set for next week’s dramatic Canadian Idol showdown. Gatineau’s Eva Avila, 19, will go head-to-head with Newfoundland’s Craig Sharpe, 16, for the Canadian Idol crown as they both perform the new Canadian Idol single “Meant to Fly,” co-written by Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida. It’s the second year in a row that Newfoundland has delivered a Top 2 finalist and it’s the first time ever that Quebec will see one of its own perform in the biggest music face-off on television.

Melissa O’Neil confirmed to perform as Idol finale kicks off a blockbuster night on CTV

CTV announced today that it has scheduled the 90-minute season finale of Canadian Idol for Sunday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV (check local listings). The scheduling manoeuvre is positioned to deliver a winning audience for the premieres of The Amazing Race and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which will debut immediately following the announcement of Canada’s next Canadian Idol. It all adds up to a blockbuster night on CTV as the end of summer’s most-watched show kicks off the start of two of this fall’s most-anticipated series.

Chad Doucette is Eliminated After Biggest Vote Ever in Canadian Idol History

  • Voting jumps by over one million in one week to astonishing 4.3 million votes

  • Results show expands to one hour next week as Tony Bennett performs live

Canadians have become fanatical in their mission to choose the next Canadian Idol. After a record-breaking 4.3 million votes were cast last night – the most ever in the history of the series and an incredible jump of over one million compared to last week – Chad Doucette found himself at the bottom of the scorecard tonight. The 18-year-old high school graduate from East Chezzetcook, NS was eliminated from the competition during tonight’s live results show on CTV.
