Nothing has provoked more outrage on Emmy nominations morning the last couple of years than the exclusion of Tatiana Maslany, the 29-year-old Canadian actress who so thoroughly brings to life a variety of clones puzzling out the meaning of their existence on BBC America’s sci-fi thriller “Orphan Black.”

W Network orders Season 2 of Game of Homes

From a media release:

Corus Entertainment announced today the renewal of W Network’s hit series, Game of Homes, with Great Pacific Media. Game of Homes (8×60) gives skilled amateur home renovators a chance to parlay their skills into the prize of a lifetime – a house and a plot of land. The second season heads across the country to the Toronto area, with four new teams of amateur home renovators turning rundown houses into their dream homes, room-by-room. Production begins on Game of Homes Season 2 in mid- September and it is scheduled to air in 2016 on W Network.

In Season 2, these dilapidated houses, slated for the wrecking ball, will be uprooted and transported to the Toronto area. The teams will work side by side, around the clock, to completely transform these dumps into show homes while also living in them. They will battle small budgets, tight deadlines, cramped quarters and each other for a chance to win a home and change their lives forever.

Being the new kid on the block is not something Erin Karpluk was used to during her four seasons starring on Being Erica. However, this season she’s had to jump on board the well-oiled machine that is Rookie Blue as Officer Juliet Ward, 15 Division’s newest cop who also had a pretty big secret that she was keeping. The Romeo Section rolls into production

Sounds like something I’ll like to watch as I like the premise and cast. Both of CBC’s new fall drama series sound great but I’m a tad worried about The Romeo Section’s timeslot—Thursday is such a packed night. —Alicia

The Amazing Race Canada roars out of the gate

I enjoyed the premiere. It was really surprising/fun to have the team that currently lives in Toronto not know what TSN was, plus another team with a rather lacklustre water Roadblock performance still managed to get 3rd and 2nd place respectively. Duthie’s face while they fumbled the script was good too.

With this and Big Brother Canada going strong, I wonder why we have’t had a Survivor Canada yet? But then I realize we don’t really have a good place to play it. Putting people in Nunavut is isolated enough but they’d always be huddled around a fire and if the crew tried to place a Hidden Immunity Idol the players could just follow the footprints in the snow. —Dan

Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany, Degrassi nominated for Primetime Emmys

Congratulations to Tatiana Maslany, who was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her extensive work on Orphan Black.

“#CloneClub & #clonesbians, this bud’s for you. Thanks buddies :)” Maslany tweeted to her 207,000 followers minutes after the nominations were announced for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Maslany plays Leda clones Sarah, Alison, Cosima, Helena, Rachel and Krystal on Space’s sci-fi series, which just wrapped up its third season. (One could argue Maslany should have a category all her own, but how would we choose a favourite clone!?!) She faces off against Taraji P. Henson (Empire), Claire Danes (Homeland), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder) and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) in the category.

The Saskatchewan native was nominated for a Golden Globe for Orphan Black, and has won a Canadian Screen Award, two Critics’ Choice Awards and a Gemini Award for the roles.

Meanwhile, Degrassi garnered a nomination in the Outstanding Children’s Program category. The long-running drama, which is jumping from MTV Canada to Family Channel for 2016, is nominated alongside Alan Alda and The Actor Within You, Dog with a Blog, Girl Meets World and Nick News with Linda Ellerbee.

Calgary’s Semi Chellas was nominated for her fifth Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series on Mad Men and Edmonton’s Michael J. Fox received an Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for The Good Wife. Jeff and Mychael Danna are nominated for two awards for music for an episode of Tyrant and Jeremy Podeswa is up for a directing award for his work on Game of Thrones. Jonathan and Drew Scott received a nomination in Outstanding Structured Reality Program for Property Brothers.
