Participants will learn practical information on breaking in, pitching, story structure, the writing room, dealing with notes, writing for production, as well as developing their own work.

Larry Kaplow is an Emmy-nominated television writer/producer, winner of the 2005 Writers Guild of America Award for Outstanding Television Script, Episodic Drama, for the House episode “Autopsy.” He attended the University of Rochester for English and New York University’s Graduate Program in Creative Writing, Fiction. His television career began as an assistant on Clueless and Chicago Hope before eventually writing for Family Law, Hack, K-Ville and Body of Proof, in addition to six seasons with House. Kaplow has lectured at USC, NYU, Duke University, Johns Hopkins, and the National Association of Broadcasters, among others.

Following a blockbuster year MARKETPLACE returns for its 40th season on CBC Television in 2012/13 and expands its season to a full year, from 12 episodes to 24.

Co-hosts Tom Harrington (@cbctom) and Erica Johnson (@cbcerica) return with hard-hitting investigative reporting that puts companies under the microscope.

MARKETPLACE won the 2011 Gemini Award for Best News Information Series.

CBC announces returning shows

DESPITE CHALLENGES, CBC TV ANNOUNCES A STRONG ROSTER OF CANADIAN SHOWS FOR THE 2012-13 SEASON

April 19, 2012 – Buoyed by very strong ratings last season, CBC Television today announced that 14 Canadian favourites will be returning for the 2012-13 season. ARCTIC AIR, the hit show which debuted to the largest audience for a drama in 15 years, will fly high again; MR D. will be back in class for a second season; and established prime time favourites will return to the lineup.

New programming includes MURDOCH MYSTERIES, produced by Shaftesbury Films; crime drama CRACKED produced by White Pine Pictures; historical drama TITANIC: BLOOD AND STEEL from the De Angelis Group (and the team behind CAMELOT and THE TUDORS) and OVER THE RAINBOW – the live competition search for theatre’s newest Dorothy produced by Temple Street Productions in association with Mirvish Productions.
