Comedy Now! premieres June 12 on CTV

cn.12Beginning Saturday, June 12, the 12th season of the star-making stand-up series Comedy Now! airs on Saturday nights at 10 p.m. on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Viewers can also catch the laughs on-demand at CTV.ca.

Canada’s reigning pre-eminent stage for homegrown comedic talent, Comedy Now! has helped an illustrious list of Canadian writer/performers earn their stripes in the comedy world. The list of luminaries includes the likes of Brent Butt, Roman Danylo, Nikki Payne, Shaun Majumder, Seán Cullen, Daryn Jones, Jay Malone, Jenn Robertson and stadium headliner Russell Peters. Comedy Now! returns with a brand-new lineup of burgeoning Canadian comics featuring Ian Bagg, Simon King, Darcy Michael, Kelly Taylor, Dana Alexander, Trent McClellan, Allyson Smith, Dylan Rhymer, J.P. Mass, Ivan Decker, Dave Hemstad, Debra Di Giovanni (pictured) and Tyler Hawkins (video below). The uncensored series premieres this fall on The Comedy Network.

Applications open for Wipeout Canada

CALLING ALL DARING CANADIAN THRILL AND SPILL SEEKERS! CONTESTANT SEARCH BEGINS FOR WIPEOUT CANADA – THE LATEST EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL SMASH HIT

TVtropolis and Lone Eagle Entertainment dare Canadians from coast-to-coast to submit their application for a chance to compete on the world’s largest obstacle course and become a contestant on the highly-anticipated, Wipeout Canada.

Beginning today, eligible Canadians may submit their application form at www.WipeoutCanada.com. All candidates must complete their application online before the official Canada Day closing deadline at midnight, Thursday, July 1, 2010.

“We’re looking for daring, thrill-seeking Canadians who believe they have the skill to compete in Wipeout’s extremely challenging course,” said Karen Gelbart, SVP, Content, Lifestyle Channels, Canwest Broadcasting.

Quick-witted Canadian TV veteran Jonathan Torrens (TV with TV’s Jonathan Torrens, Trailer Park Boys) and Canadian Comedy Award nominee, Ennis Esmer (Young People Fucking; The Listener) will host the Canadian format of the painfully funny series, offering humourous running commentary. Model and actress, Jessica Phillips (Deal or No Deal Canada; Being Erica) will be on the front lines of all the wipeout action as co-host, providing additional commentary and contestant reactions direct from the course.

Slated to premiere on TVtropolis in the Spring of 2011, Wipeout Canada will give 20 contestants in each episode the chance to conquer the course over four rounds of competition, ultimately leading to the crowning of the winner who will earn a $50,000 grand prize.

Thirteen one-hour Canadian episodes will be taped on the iconic Wipeout set this October, promising to provide the most spectacular and often painfully hilarious spills, face plants and wipeouts.
